Diagnosis of accessibility in the tourist offer of the city of Paraguarí

Abstract

Accessibility in tourism, understood as the possibility that all people have to use an object, visit a place or access a service, regardless of their cognitive or physical abilities, implies the need to adapt spaces and eliminate barriers that allow the enjoyment of tourist sites and services. Based on this concept, this work aims to analyze the tourist offer of the City of Paraguarí, to determine if it is accessible to people with some type of disability, generate information that allows raising awareness about accessibility in sites of tourist interest and the characterization of the tourist offer of the city. The result was obtained, based on a mixed-methodology approach, the description and quantification of the available offer, applying tourism diagnostic techniques and tools, applied during technical visits, observation, bibliographic review, interviews with key actors (municipality - service providers). Paraguarí is recognized according to national tourism statistics (INE, 2020) as the 4th most visited department, due to the variety and quantity of tourist services it offers, mostly natural sites, characteristics that allow it to be considered a tourist reference. The main result has been to analyze and identify tourist sites with some element of accessibility and the identification of concepts to strengthen knowledge about accessible tourism.
