Inclusive restaurant ‘‘Bon Viveur’’ focused on serving people with visual disabilities in the city of Areguá

Abstract

Currently, the main barriers faced by people with visual impairments are understanding information and physical access. Therefore, it is much more difficult for them to interact not only with their own environment, but also with other people. Based on this global and national problem, the inclusive restaurant project called Bon Viveur SRL was born from the tourism sector. It aims to offer gastronomic services in the city of Areguá, primarily aimed at people with visual impairments, providing them with a service that is easy to access and enjoy. The city of Areguá was chosen as the main location due to its tourist value, growing demand, and lack of accessible services for people with visual impairments. The study was conducted using a mixed approach, both exploratory and descriptive. Data collection was conducted through a focus group with people with visual impairments and users of the Foundation Saraki and a survey of potential restaurant users. Key findings include: the identification of tourism resources and their accessibility, potential demand within the Central department, and the needs and main barriers faced by people with visual impairments when seeking to access food services. The results obtained allowed us to structure a comprehensive business proposal, considering the complexity of the target market, as well as its specific desires, needs, and expectations.
