Paraguayan higher education faces the challenge of establishing an effective bilingual academic training that integrates Guaraní. This study examines the relevance, use, and challenges associated with implementing Guaraní in Paraguayan universities. A mixed-methods approach was applied, combining documentary review of educational policies and university programs with semi-structured interviews of faculty and students from various disciplines. Results show that, although formal initiatives and bilingual academic materials exist, the actual use of Guaraní in pedagogical practice is limited, influenced by teacher preparedness, cultural resistance, and lack of university-level teaching resources. Potential benefits of linguistic integration include strengthening cultural identity, promoting social inclusion, and improving comprehension of academic content among bilingual students. The discussion concludes that the relevance of Guaraní in higher education is indisputable from a cultural and social perspective, yet it requires clearer institutional strategies, teacher training, and development of specialized materials to overcome current challenges.
